Super Bowl LIX, between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, will take place on Sunday, February 9, 2025. The 2025 Super Bowl showdown between Kansas City and Philly marks the second time in just three years that the two teams will be playing head to head. The last time, in 2022, Kansas City pulled out a narrow win over Philadelphia, while brothers Jason and Travis Kelce faced off at one of the biggest NFL games of their careers.
This year’s game marks the fifth time the Chiefs are going for the ring within the last six Super Bowls. Their recent dominance in the sport has been exciting for their most loyal fans (and Taylor Swift’s fans, who have come to expect to see her at Chiefs games, cheering on her boyfriend, Travis Kelce). Prior to 2020, the Chiefs hadn’t made an appearance in the Super Bowl since their 1970 win. In total, this game marks the Chiefs’ seventh appearance in the big game, their first actually being the first-ever Super Bowl in 1967.
Meanwhile, Philadelphia has made four prior attempts at Super Bowl Champion, with the 2025 game marking their fifth try. While the team’s first appearance at the Super Bowl was in 1981, they didn’t win one until 2018, and 2023 marked their latest devastating loss. Fans can expect both teams to play hard on Sunday, as both teams are hungry to cement their place in the football hall of fame.
